Marina Abramovic meets Ulay
“Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again. at her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing it and this is what happened.”
The Geekarts of Jeff Zhang
Jeff’s grandiose artistic tributes to childhood favorites like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Tommy!), Inspector Gadget, Invader Zim, and Metroid help feed the insatiable hunger of the beast called Nostalgia. Deshi basara, release the Dragonzord!
The phrase “pass-first point guard,” is completely ridiculous. Point guards are supposed to pass first. “Pass-first point guards” are just called “point guards.” Guards who don’t “pass first” are called “shooting guards.”
And nobody, in the history of the NBA, passed as effectively as the Utah Jazz’s John Stockton.
In 1991-92, John Stockton had one game with only 3 assists (in a 32-point loss to Portland, where Stockton was pulled early, after only 30 mins). In the other 81 games, John Stockton had 8 assists or more, including three with 20+ assists, and twenty-eight contests with 15+ assists.
In 1992-93, the fewest assists John Stockton had in a game was 5.
In 1993-94, John Stockton never handed out fewer than 7 assists in a game (and only had 3 games with that many). He had 66 games with double digit assist totals.
Also, if you notice, John Stockton walks on air.
The most interesting man in the NBA
Over the course of these NBA playoffs, Rajon Rondo has already: (a) been suspended for bumping an official in Game 1 of the first round; (b) said, as an aside, that the Celtics felt like they had pretty much won that series against Atlanta when they won Game 2 without him (the series was tied 1-1 at that point); (c) told reporters that the Celtics would have to make the Heat stars “hit the deck” after a Game 1 loss in the East final; and (d) told ESPN sideline reporter Doris Burke that the Celtics were taking advantage of the Heat “complaining and crying to the referees in transition” at halftime of Game 4.
That only begins to describe the complexities of the point guard. In the span of five seasons, Rondo has gone from an afterthought next to the Big Three to the centrepiece of the Celtics. He had 44 points in a Game 2 loss to Miami, and 15 assists in a Game 4 win that tied the series. With Rondo, you never know for sure what to expect, except that it will be captivating.
